Confederate Soldiers buried in the Brown County My name is Gale Red, and I am the Division Commander for the Sons of Confederate Veterans. We are a heritage organization, like the Sons of the Revolutions, dedicated to preserving the history of our Southern ancestors who fought in the War Between the States. We are in the process of trying to find all the graves in the state of Illinois for soldiers who fought for the Confederacy. We have so far found only four record for Confederates buried in Brown County: Benville Union Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, IL: HARRIS, Green, , Army, Conf., - , no HS Westside Versailles Cemetery, Versailles, IL: FIELDS, George J., , Army, Conf., d. 1912, L 40, PHS GRAVES, Thomas R., , Army, Conf., d. 21 May 1923, L 144, PHS KERR, J.D., Capt., Army, Conf., d. 11 Mar 1921, L 246, PHS We feel there may be some others buried in the county, and would appreciate it if anyone knowing of any Confederate soldier buried in Brown County would please contact me at gf3smred@peaknet.net Also, if you know of anyone who many be a living descendant of one of these soldiers, please help by providing me their names and a way to contact them.
