Please note that Coumans was also spelled Cummins, Commans, Coummans, Cummens, Commons, Commens, Cummans, Cummens, Kimmanns, and just about any other way! I'm searching for info on the family of John Coumans Sr., who was born in Ireland c. 1798. Also, I'm interested in info on the ancestry of his wife - Jane Sargeant, who was also born in Ireland, but a little later, likely around 1800. The two of them immigrated to Canada (either before or after their marriage) and had at least 4 children - John Jr. (b. 1832), Simon (b. c.1828) Elizabeth and Thomas. Simon Coumans married a Mary O'Farrell in 1856 in Ontario, Canada. She, like Simon's parents, had been born in Ireland. John Coumans Sr. died on August 18, 1868. Jane died in March of 1889. Any info on this family - especially their ancestry or relatives in Ireland would be very appreciated! There are a lot of us searching for the history of this line!
