Researching GOWEN FAMILY of COOKE COUNTY TEXAS from @1830 to @1870. What is known: HOFF, FIELDS (aka RICHARD FIELDS)born unk. Married to ELIZABETH GOWEN of COOKE COUNTY @1855 (+ or - 5 years). ELIZABETH GOWEN born in COOKE COUNTY @1835 to unknown parents. Fields and Elizabeth had 4 known children 3 sons, 1 daughter. We only have the name of one son our GGRANDFATHER RICHARD FIELDS HOFF who was born between 1855 & 1861 in COOKE COUNTY. FIELDS HOFF (the elder) disappeared @1868. No further information is known. Elizabeth remaried @1872 to a N.T. JONES, possibly in COOKE COUNTY. The family moved NORTH into OKLAHOMA TERRITORY @1872/73 with ELIZABETH's Mother joining the group. It is assumed Elizabeth's mother was widowed @1867. The JONE's family settled in either the ARDMORE or MARIETTA area. During the Indian raids of the late 1800's, the JONE's homestead was attacked by renegade warriors and Elizabeth was killed. Elizabeth's mother apparently took charge of the younger children as we do not have any records of other family members taking them in. We need the following information please: 1) NAMES of ELIZABETH GOWEN's parents, her birth date and any siblings; 2) ANY information on FIELDS HOFF (the elder); 3) ANY information on N.T.
