We are searching for descendants of ROBERT P. MCNEELY, born @ 1811 in Georgia, died between 1860 and 1870 -- somewhere in "west Texas." Robert P. McNeely's father's name was Robert McNeely; and his mother's maiden name was Ellender A. (Nelly) Moore, the daughter of Joseph Moore, Sr., born @ 1788 in Georgia (probably Wilkes County). Robert McNeely and Ellender Moore were married in Oglethorpe County, GA in 1803. Robert P. McNeely was in Alabama with his family (probably in Perry County) by 1820. Robert P. McNeely's father, Robert McNeely, died in the summer of 1827, leaving his wife, Ellender, a widow with nine sons ranging in age from 23 years to several months. Ellender Moore McNeely never remarried. Robert P. McNeely was married in Perry County, Al @ Sept 7, 1836 -- to Charlotte Franklin (sometimes Elizabeth Franklin or Charlotta Franklin). They had at least four children together, the youngest of whom was Lucinda P. Franklin who was born only a few weeks before her mother died. After Charlotte Franklin McNeely died, Robert P. McNeely married her much younger sister -- Mary Ellen Franklin. On the 1860 Smith County, TX census, Robert P. McNeely is the head of his household, age 49, with his wife Mary [Mary Ellen Franklin McNeely] and their children. Robert P. McNeely came to Texas from Alabama about 1855-1856 (the family may have lived for a time in Louisiana). Robert P. McNeely's known children are: Joseph (b.@ 1846); Catherine (b. @ 1848); William (b. @ 1849); Emily (b.@ 1850); Jefferson (b. @ 1853); Martha (b. @ 1855); Edward or Edmond (b. @ 1858); Lucinda 2 (b. @ 1859); John (born @ 1862). On the 1870 Titus County, TX census, Robert P. McNeely's daughter Catherine (b. @ 1848) is married to Hardy Easley, and has two of her siblings -- Martha (b. @ 1855) and Edward/Edmond (b. @ 1858) -- living with her.
