My grandma, was Ora Virginia King Shelton. Her parents were Ben and Catherine Pettit King. Catherine's parents were Hiram and Caroline Mansker Pettit. Grandma was born April 1, 1894, in Thebes, Alexander County, Illinois. She was suppose to have been born in a farm house about 21 miles south of Thebes. Just about a week after her birth, her mother died of TB., within weeks, her father also died of TB. Grandma was then raised by her aunt and uncle, Jacob L. and Margaret Bond Mansker. So my questions are: Does anyone know anything about ANY of these people? Also, a burial place for Ben and Catherine has never been found, but I would assume is was around this farm house. Does anyone know anything about two unmarked graves about 21 miles south of Thebes, where an old farm house may have stood. thank you bill shelton | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
