I'm researching the Gorton Family. My Ggrandfather George arrived in Port Chalmers in 1874 with his wife Dorcas. They settled in Makarewa, near Invercargill. There were 6 children, John (my grandfather) born Feb 1875, died 1943, Bill b 1877, George 1879 d, 1948, Harry b 1885, Lily b. 1882 and Joe (no birth date).
