My greatgrandfather left China around 10 yrs before the 2nd world war started. He brought my grandfather (still an infant) along. He's very poor, all he and my grandpa had was a can of fish for a month. I think they were either in Brunei Darussalam or Limbang, Malaysia. My grandfather was then adopted by my greatgrandfather's "brother". I don't know if my last name is really Chiew. In Mandarin, you pronounce it as Zhou. I am a Hokkien.
