John Hamilton McNeely & James Henderson McNeely..other syblings Miranda, George W., and ? ...anxious to contact any cousins!!!...other Surnames=Hamilton,Henderson,Compton,Patrick,Rankin OBITUARY Dr. John H. McNeely March 2, 1917 - February 12, 2003 Dr. John H. McNeely, 85, passed away in El Paso, Texas on February 12th. He was born in Evansville Indiana, grew up in Washington DC, graduated from George Washington University, earned a Masters at American University, and a PhD at U.T. Austin in 1958. He taught at McAllen High School in the early 40’s. He was retired from the University of Texas at El Paso as Professor Emeritus in History after teaching there for 38 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dora Lopez McNeely, daughter of a pioneer family of McAllen, the late Donato Lopez Guerra and Agapita Guerra Lopez. A daughter, Alma McNeely Riera, of Austin and her children, also survive him: Ana-Lisha Riera and Francisco David Riera also of Austin, Juan Antonio Riera of Mallorca, Spain. He is also survived by a son, John H. McNeely, Jr. and his wife, Marlene Arrambide McNeely of Denver and their children: Lisa M. McNeely and Stephen A. McNeely all of Denver, and Nina D. McNeely of Los Angeles. Dr. McNeely’s ashes are to be interred at Valley Memorial Gardens with a graveside ceremony to be held on Monday June 2nd at 10:30 AM. Relatives, friends and former students are all welcome.
