I am looking for information about Major-General Sir Frederick Dobson Middleton who was the commander of the North-West Field Force which captured Louis Riel in the Reil Rebellion of 1885, Sask., Canada. I'm specifically interested in finding out his ancestry. I have been able to go no further than finding out his dates, and places of birth, and death. Born in Belfast, Ireland, Nov. 4, 1825, and died in London, England, Jan. 25, 1898. The names of his parents were Charles Middleton, and Fanny Wheatly. General Frederick Middleton was the 3rd born out of 6 brothers. 4 were army, 1 was Royal Navy. 1 sister, Eleanor (Middleton) Manson, b. 1820, Co. Sligo, Ireland.
