Friends-- My great grandparents, according to the marker in St Mary Cemetary,Brady's Bend, Armstrong Co. PA. are Jane(1849-1906) and John (1826-1917) BERNARD. In the 1880 Census they are John (age 44 from France) and Jennifer (age 29 from Belgium) BARNETT. My Dad told me they met on the boat and married. They must have arrived in the late 1860's. I am trying to find out how they arrived in the USA, and where they are from in Europe. I saw in the County History that there was Belgium Row houses for the Limestone mines. Maybe there were lots of people from Belgium, maybe they came from the same place at the same time. Maybe I can piggyback on someone else's research. Do you know if anyone traces their Brady's Bend ancestors to Belgium, or France? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
