I am looking for anyone with information about the surname Cosgrove in the north tipperary region.There are Cosgroves in Ballina today who came from Ballinahinch originally,after that i do not know.The name could have alternated between Cosgrove,Cosgrave and Cosgriff in the area.Cosgroves in Ballina married Mckeoghs,Nugents,Collins and possibley Meehen(often spelled differently) since they moved from Ballinahinch in circa 1863?About this time a Patrick Cosgrove is recorded acquiring an area of land in Roran,Ballina.The sons of Patrick Cosgrove supposedly immigrated to the USA and Australia in the later half of the 19th or early 20th century.One of these was a Patrick Cosgrove who immigrated to the USA in 1899.Matthew and Patricks brothers John,Thomas and James supposedly went to Australia.A sister Mary may have married a Bush man in or near Roscrea.Another sister was called Bridget? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
