I am looking for my gggrandfather, Andrew Jackson Mattox who died enroute back to Missouri from California. Family stories maintain that he died on the Kansas plains circa 1852. Andrew Jackson was the son of George Mattox, Sedalia. Petis County, MO. one of 12 children. Andrew Jackson married Caroline Porter January 18, 1841 daughter of John Porter and Sarah ?. Andrew and Caroline had four known children: William E. b 1842; John b 1844; George b 1845; and Malinda b 1848. It is known that Andrew was already dead when his father's will was read in 1855.
