I am researching information about my maternal and paternal great-grandparents who lived in Louisville, Kentucky. Capt. E.W. Saunders and his wife "Muddie" born in the 1850's or thereabouts. He was a Louisville architect is purported to have been the master architect of Ft. Knox. They also owned race horses. E.W. died sometime before 1918 but she lived much longer. They had three sons (Thomas, Clarence and Frank, my grandfather.) They had two daughters whose names I do not have as they lived out of state. My maternal grandparents (also of Louisville) were John Ludlow Hughes and Eliza Buford Haydon Hughes. Her father was Frank Haydon who was a Kentucky land owner and fought in the Civil War. Her mother was probably a "Buford." John's mother was a Mary Ann Townley. They also lived in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. I believe I may have ancestors in Louisville or Mt. Sterling. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
