I'm searching for any connection of a union between Rev. Alix or Alex Williams and Marthena McCray (McCrae) who were my grgrandparents and lived during the 1800s. I don't know of their date of marriage or death. Alix Williams was a Methodist minister who built the first Methodist church in his area. My grand father, James Arthur Williams who married Ruby McKenzie, was a Baptist minister who traveled through the Carolinas, West Virginia and Ohio. He died in Pittsburgh in 1986. Ruby McKenzie's mother was called "Scrap" or "Scrappy". He had a brother, Butler Williams, who was a Methodist minister in Tuskeghee, Alabama. He died in 1976. His Chapel, Butler Chapel, is in the National Archives of Historical Buildings. There was a brother, Whitelaw, and sisters, Sarah and Elizabeth. There were others I do not know. My father, James Burgess Williams, also a minister, died in 1975. His sister, Bernadine Williams is still living in Pittsburgh, PA. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
