War This David Mann advanced to Captain as follows: In 1783, he issued a Revolutionary War Bounty Warrants certificate of service to JOHN VAIDEN, and signed as Lieutenant D. Mann; and others, too numerous to list. Gov. Benjamin Harrison (1726-1791) sent to Lt. David Mann orders dated May 1784, "cleaning public arms in the magazine", and another order "Directing him to assume command of the guard at the post and to instruct Lt. Mann to proceed to Richmond to assume a like command." Order to issue powder to Capt. Mann. March 29, 1783, Receipt, D[avid] Mann of [Keeper of Magazine], for powder and fires. another: Order for as much powder "as is necessary to fire three American salutes." Note [verso] March 29, 1783, Receipt, D. Mann of William Reynolds, for powder. April 24, 1784, Receipt, D. Mann of John Peyton, for blank cartridges and powder "for the Honour of Celebrating the Confirmation of a Sessation of Arms with all the powers at War." -- Possible relationship: Prudence Mann married William Ward Jones, January 24, 1828 in Amelia Co. Prudence Mann was a dau. of David Mann of Amelia Co. Prudence died, then Jones, m. Mary Breedlove of Charlotte County, Virginia.
