I am looking for infomation about Archibald Dunlap, b. abt 1765 in Scotland, lived in Middlebrook, Virginia, USA after 1790. Trying to confirm or refute infomation that his father is Rev. John Dunlop. b. abt. 1684 in South Carolina to William Dunlop (b. abt. 1654 in Scotland), who later returned to Glasgow to become president of Glasgow University and was married to Sarah Carstairs. Rev. John Dunlop reportedly immigrated to America from Ayrshire(first to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, then to Virginia) abt. 1775 with his wife, Nancy Colvin, and several children. I question the dates, because Rev. John Dunlop would have been in over 80 when Archibald was born and 90 when he and his family immigrated to America. Also, the archivist at University of Glasgow did not have information about Prof. William having a son, John (only had records of sons, Alexander and William). If anyone has suggestions of reputable sources I could contact, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you, gloruf@yahoo.com | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
