Query Text: |
i am looking for information on any french family who had an ancestor who was a PRISONER OF WAR war held in HALIFAX, nova scotia, canada between 1803 and 1815. they would have been in napoleon's army or navy and although some settled here most returned to france. some names of those who settled here were richard(josselin, brittany), bornouf (regneville, normandy), van malder, and metier. families will be included in a book about the p.o.w.'s. these men were imprisoned on melville island or paroled to dartmouth and preston. i am descendant of sebastien marie richard of josselin who served aboard the frigate "la furieuse" thank you... beverley richard | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
