Looking for relatives of Chung Keng Quee. Zheng Jing Gui / Chung Keng Quee - leader of the Penang and Perak Hai Shan Kongsi. The official name for Chung Keng Kooi or Zheng Jing Gui is Chung Keng Kwee (1829AD to 1916AD). There are two streets in George Town, Penang named after him, Keng Kwee Street and Ah Kwee Street. (2) Chung Keng Kwee was the third son of Chung 'Xing Fa' who contributed more money than anybody else to the (The Zeng Long Association of Penang. Note: Zeng Long is also Hakka). Chung 'Xing Fa' came from the village called Xin Cun of Zeng Cheng county in Guangdong province. (3) Chung Keng Kwee was the leader of the Penang and Perak Hai Shan Kongsi from 1860AD to 1884AD. Sometimes Hai Shan was called Wu Qun and I think, the Wu Qun referred to; (1) Hui Zhou , (b) Da Pu , (c) Yong Ding , (d) Zeng Cheng and (e) Jia Ying. He was bestowed the title of Kapitan China. (4) Chung Keng Kwee had many sons and one of them was called Chung Thye Phin (Zheng Da Ping). Chung Thye Phin was very rich and powerful. At one time, he issued his own currency. He built a hospital in Ipoh called Chung Thye Phin Hospital, Ipoh. (5) Chung Keng Kwee Zheng Jinggui 1829 to 1916) was the third son of Chung Xingfa, a Hakka, who came to Penang, Malaya, in the early 19th century as an indentured labourer. Chung Xingfa was from a village called Xin Cun in Zengcheng county of Guangdong province. He was one of founding members of the Zeng Long Association of Penang. (6) In 1893, the Hakka millionaire, Chung Keng Kwee (Zheng Jing Gui) built a Chinese school for all the Chinese children irrespective of their dialects. Chung Keng Kwee made his fortune from the tin of Larut, in the present day town of Taiping (Peace in Hakka). (7) In March 1901 the Hakka Association in Penang established an Educational Institution called Chong Wen She. The founders of this Educational Institution were: Chung Keng Kwee and 11 others.
