About ten years ago I bought an old Family Bible at a garage sale in CA. It is not in good condition but it appears to have been a family heirloom and before I throw it out I was hoping to find a descendant who might want it. The first page says it was presented to Phebe Billingsley on April 23, 1883. The Bible also contained the remembrance card from Phebe's funeral, and it says she was born in Valparaiso, IN in 1861. Since she would have been 22 years old in 1883, I think it was a wedding present from (what looks like) J.M.C. Billingsley. The memorial card says she died in 1943 in Hawthorne, CA and is buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery. The Bible also contains personal cards from Ida, Walter, and Atha Billingsley. There is also a public school Grade Certificate from the Marshall Public School System in Marshall, MO indicating that a Mackey Billingsley was promoted to the fourth grade, and dated May 20, 1892. On the back of this certificate is a handwritten notation to the effect that Mackey accidentally shot himself when he was seventeen. This Bible is of no particular use to me but may be of significant importance to a Billingsley descendant. Drop me a line if you have any input. Thanks John N.
