Hi I am seeking information on a lost great aunt who emigrated to New Zealand early 1900s. The aunts maiden name Is Low and she came from Glasgow Scotland....I am almost positive that this aunt travelled as a servant of a family who were moving to New Zealand... She kept in touch with my grandmother during her lifetime but sadly there are no surviving letters.... I hesitate to name this aunt (she is missing from the 1901 census in Glasgow but that may be because she was at this time in service..... This is all the information I have on this aunt...To anyone who feels there is a slight connection to this lady I am able to exchange some family history and will say at this moments that my Lows were from Dundee and only moved to Glasgow late 1800s early 1900s and as I say are listed in the Glasgow 1901 census.... My aunt's father and mother were William Low and Jessie Cunningham 1901 census entry for 1177 Dumbarton Road.... William Low age 44 (ships plater) Born Lochie Jessie Low age 47 wife born Perth Isabella Low age 23 (dau) (service) born Dundee George Low age 17 (son) (Apprentice) b Renfrew Margaret Low (dau) age 15 (service) b Renfrew William Low (son) age 13 (scholar) b Renfrew Jessie Low (dau) age 13(scholar) b Whitinch James Low Grandson age 9 months b Whiteinch You will notice a 9 months old grandchild listed in this entry and this is one of my huge brick walls no one is married in this census but I am positive there is a missing daughter hense comes the Elizabth Low...Between the eldest daughter Isabella Low and George Low eldest son there is a six year gap I am sure this is the place of the missing aunt and I am almost sure her name would have been Elizabeth Low......I hope I have made this clear enough to understand and would love any help in my quest.... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
