I would like more information about the old Rash Hotel in Aspermont. My great-grandparents owned and operated it until they sold it in the 1950's and moved to Monahans. It then was changed to the Lee Hotel, now razed. I would like to know when it was built, by whom, and when my grandparents became owners. Specific information: James Campbell Rash (10-31-1870)and Frances Ella Landers Rash (1-20-1873). Her father was Abel William Landers, judge of Kent County, who died under mysterious circumstances in 1893.(Clairmont Weekly Westeern Courier Sept. 2, 1893. vol.1, no.24.) Their oldest son, Abel William Rash, was said to have been the first white male child born in Stonewall Co. (Aspermont Star Dec. 16, 1948, vol.52, no.13) He married Rosa Lee King, daughter of John Green King and Emma Zinda Anderson. Grandpa Jim Rash was also Deputy Sherrif 3 yrs, County Tax Ascessor (1910-1920). Grandad Abe Rash was District Clerk for 8 yrs in the 1930's. They are buried at Double Mt. Cemetery on land donated by Grandpa and his father, Wm. Franklin Rash. I would especially appreciate any legal forms, newspaper articles, and pictures for my files. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
