Hello, possible cousins. I am looking for information on my family born in Ireland. Napoleon Bonaparte Crean and wife Ann came from Dublin, June 24, 1851 on the ship Fortuna with Eliza Crean and 2 infants. We had a Bishop Crean in Ireland. Crean is often spelled Crane in Illinois and in America in general since it sounds that way and people didn't know how to spell it. In our family graveplot are buried Raymond Crane, Andrew Crean, Lester Crean, Arthur Decker, Mary Anne Dillon, and Anne Crean among others. Andrew could be a cousin. There were many people named Charles Crean in Illinois in 1860 who could be relatives. Originally, the O'Crean family came from Sligo, as did my other relatives, the Peter and Brigit O'Hara family, who came from Leitrim to Canada to Missouri and Illinois. We had a Lady O'Hara in Ireland who owned land. I don't know where Napoleon and Ann lived before they came to New York and then moved to Chicago, Illinois. The children are named: Charles Crean, William Crean, Catherine Crean Lewis (I think) and James Thomas (Thomas J.) Crean. Similar names seem to be around French Park or Roscommon. Thomas married Etta Lawler, who's family came from county Kerry -- Loretta Lawler. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Nancy Fiore | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
