Query Text: |
My great grandfather was Mote Woodson, His father was Lorenzo Dow Lawson(adopted by a Woodson) Lorenzo's mother was Mary Lawson (married John Woodson) Mary Lawson's father and mother Pryor and Rebecca Lawson. They were from Montgomery AL. We believe Mary had a child either out of wedlock or married native american. In that area and time either Choctaw or Cree. We believe she would have stayed with him but he probably died. She met John Lawson and her family then moved to MO then to AR. Although her mother did not go so we assumed she died. Trying to find Lorenzo's real father. At one time once they were in AR., a NA family came to visit by the name of Goforth or Gopher. Not sure due to misunderstanding of name due to pronunceation or dialect. They were not well received because of being NA. All my family is very dark skinned and black hair. Also, is the Lawson name from Scotland originally. I have many pictures and letters if anyone ties into my family that I would be willing to share.
