Searching for ANY inoformation on Winifred "Winney" C. Yates, born 15 July 1844 in GA or MS and died 8 Feb 1893 in Montgomery Co. Located on 1870 Holmes Co., MS census with no husband and 2 children, Octavia and William Henry at Durant. By 1880 she had married George Washington Palmertree in Montgomery Co. where they were living. They had 5 more children. Octavia may have died as a young girl but William Henry (my gg grandfather) lived to adulthood and married Rosamond women. It is possible Winnie was an unwed mother or her husband could have been killed in the War Between the States. She owned land on 1870 census. John W. Yates is only Yates found early on getting land in Holmes Co on Sept 1, 1848. Is there a connection. Please help!!! Need to know her Yates husband's name, what became of him and her maiden name.
