I am searching for a Alexander John Sutherland who was born in or around 1794 and lived in or around Dornoch. He was married to a Mary McKay. She had a sister Elizabeth McKay and two brothers a Robert McKay and a Alexander McKay. Alexander and Mary had a daughter Maria and two sons a John Alexander and a son Alexander. It is speculated that the sutherlands died while the children were young and they were brought up by their mothers family (the MacKay's). Maria came to Canada about 1820 and John came to Canada about 1827 at age 15 with his Uncle Robert McKay. I am interested in making contact with someone who is doing genealogy research in the Sutherland area to assist in this search. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
