Surname(s):

BEAUMONT : FRIER : RIGG

Query Text:

I am seeking information about my great grandfather Joseph Beaumont, probably born in Leeds in late 1851 or early 1852. At some time he moved to Stockton-on-Tees, where he married Elizabeth Frier on 18 October 1879. The marriage certificate gives his father's name as Joseph whose occupation was glassmaker. Some time after his wedding Joseph junior started using the name Charles - presumably after the birth of his second son; children from this marriage were called Thomas, Sarah, Joseph, Ellen (married Richard Wass Rigg in 1912), George, Susan, John and Robert. The place of birth is consistent as Leeds, Yorkshire in both the 1881 and 1901 census data. The age information on the wedding certificate and both censuses is consistent with a birth in either 1851 or 1852. Unfortunately I have so far been unable to locate a birth certificate and am currently researching the 1871 census (to be followed, if necessary by the 1861 census) to try and associate him with other family members. Any information to help with my search will be gratefully received!
