Searching for information on Medad Barrett. He is on the Jury List for Ontario County for the year 1813 from the town of Mendon. He shows up in the 1830 Wheeler, Stueben County, NY census. I also found a site saying he was among the first families to settle in the town of Mendon. http://www.townofmendon.org/pages/2/page2.html?refresh=1082401248876 Another researcher found this: Medad Barrett b. ABT 1780 in NY d. BEF 1850 in NY m. before 1810 to Elsy [Barrett] b. ABT 1780 in NY. This date made both quite old when Grattan would have been born, which is est. 1844 His son, Grattan, shows up on the 1870 Federal census with his wife Eliza, daughter Sarah (b. abt. 1867), and son William, all living in Wheeler, Steuben County, NY. It shows Grattan's YOB as approx. 1844. In the 1880 Federal Census, it shows these, as well as a George (age 5) and another Sarah, age 3, again in Wheeler. Grattan was in the Civil War, enl. Dec 1863, three years; slightly wounded at Mansfield; disch. at Tallahassee, Nov. 1865. He was with the Company C, 161st Infantry Regiment New York. It also shows him being wounded at Sabine Cross-Roads. Sarah is my gg-Grandmother and I've been trying to find information on her for years. All I know of her is that she was the common-law wife of my gg-Grandfather, Darwin Hezekiah Fox. She died on 9-2-1899 as a result of an abortion with her 6th child. I would like to find more information on this family if possible and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Rebecca | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
