I am trying to find a couple of missing Hoy brothers from Greenock, Scotland. John Hoy, ship master, married Jane/Jean Cumming in Greenock in 1829. They had three sons and two daughters. The daughters, Mary Paton Hoy [married John/Peter Rodger] and Elizabeth Hoy [married Robert Inglis] married in Greenock and spent their lives there. The three sons, William [born 1829], Andrew [born 1831], and John [born 1833] all "went to sea". Young John went to Australia, married and raised a family there. Nothing further is known about William nor Andrew. I have extensive data to share of the other three lines. Update: November 2007. The Hoy brothers were found. Both went to Australia. William died in Victoria in 1865. he had gone there to mine gold. John Hoy settled in Shellharbour, married and had two children. I have been to NSW and have met his descendants. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
