Hazel Batchelor was born in Texas. Her father was born in Texas, her mother in Oklahoma. Hazel's family moved about 1910 from Texas to Faulkner County, Arkansas, in the town of Roland. According to Hazel's daughter, Margaret, Hazel has a sister, but she did not recall the name. Hazel's father, according to Margaret, worked for the railroad as a conductor all his life. He retired in Roland and is buried there. Hazel's mother, name unknown, deserted the family soon after the birth of Hazel's sister (probably between 1910 and 1920) and relocated to Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas. There she filed for divorce from her husband, married another man, and resided in the Little Rock area. Margaret received gifts from her mother,Hazel, but never came to see her. Hazel married young, probably about 14, to William Blankenship. Where is uncertain, but soon after their marriage, Hazel gave birth to a son, William Jr. Then she promptly divorced him and married my grandfather, William Augnet Wilson, a widower at the time. They married in Faulkner County, Arkansas on April 14, 1926. Between 1926 and 1938, Hazel gave birth to six children: Issac, Abraham, Margaret, Alta (my mother), and a set of twins, Everette and Edward. In 1939, she divorced William A Wilson and married William Peal/Pill of Paragould, Greene, Arkansas. In 1941, she died of the complications of chronic tuberculosis.
