Captain Ilay Ferrier was born in Linlithgow,1811.He went into the service of the East India Company and was a Major in the 48th Madras Native Infantry.Obviously he must at some time have resided in India.He was Resident Councillor of Malacca from(1849-24 July 1854)Son of Louis Henry Ferrier & Charlotte Monro.He married Catherine Maria de Wind in 1838 and presumably the marriage took place in Malacca.Her father was John Bartholomew de Wind.Her grandfather was J.B.de Wind who,apparently was Governor of Malacca before the Dutch aceded it to the British.They had 7 sons and 2 daughters.He died on 24th July 1854,Peringit,Malacca.His issue:- i)Louis John George Ferrier(1840-1878). ii)Ilay Arthur Ferrier(1842-1848). iii)Alexander Walter Ferrier. iv)George Henry Ferrier(1847-?). v)Adrian Norman Ferrier(1849). vi)Charles David Ferrier(1850-?). vii)James Archibald Ferrier(1854-1934)married to Louisa Emily Watkins.His issue:- ai)Ilay Ferrier(1889-1935)married to Loveday Margaret Welman.His issue:- bi)Mary Loveday Ferrier(1917-?). bii)James Ilay Ferrier born in 1920. biii)Diana Therese Ferrier born in 1928. aii)Tyrrell Ferrier(1890-?). aiii)Alan Ferrier(1894-?). viii)Charlotte Isabella Ferrier(1845-?). ix)Catherine Maria Ferrier(1852-?). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
