The Bradt Family Society is interested in finding any information connecting an ancester who's father's name cannot be found. Any information that you could offerwould be deeply appreciated. A member of our society who did research on her family Bradt/Brott has been unable to connect to the original two brothers Albert and Arent Andriessen Bradt who came to America in 1637. From her research, a family reunion was held in 1987 with over 300 individuals attending in Albany, NY where these two brothers settled. We also have met every five years since. At the time the English took over Albany they went by Albert and Arent Andiressen (son's of Andries. The English told them they had to take a surname. It is not known why they chose Bradt. The person who did all the research was unable to connect her family to either of the brothers, but connected thousands of others. In her research she came across papers left by a genealogical researcher of the 1920's and 1930's, Charlotte Luckhurst, Who listed a Sally Congdon b. 1800, d 26 Feb 1847. The only thing listed was that she was married to a Bradt. Their son, Oliver Bradt(Brott) was born 27 June 1823 and died 8 Feb 1904 in Darien, CT and burried in Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien, CT. Possibly there is obituary from one of the newspapers of 1904 that may list his father's name. Anything information you may be able to tell us his father's name would be very helpful.
