Searching for information regarding my great-great grandparents George Wesley Gillispie married Cintella Ann Given--lived in/around Charleston, (Kanawha/Putnam Counties) of West Virginia. He was an ordained Baptist minister, Justice of the Peace and contractor. Known children, Bertha Ethel, George, Grace Angelina, Elizabeth--believe to be other siblings. Also searching for info concerning my husband's Gillispie relative--Peter Gillispie--may have come from Mason County, WV or Ohio to Putnam County, WV. Anxious to tie these lines together as we believe they all immigrated from Scotland, thru the Port of Philadelphia into Virginia and from there west. Able to trace my line back to Roben Gillaspy I in Scotland who immigrated to area around the Cow Pasture River in western VA. Believed to have operated a forge at Clifton Forge, VA. My husband and I didn't realize that both of our maternal grandmothers' surnames were Gillispie until long after we were married. We figured it out at a family reunion and by then we exoecting our 5th child and we figured it was too late to worry about it--now we are just intiqued and want to be able to pass along more factual info to our 7 children. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
