I'm looking for descendants of William Thomas Lewis,Resident Councillor of Penang from(1855-1860).He was born in 1791,Bencoolen. His father was an officer (lieutenant of Artillery) in the Company's military service; his mother was an Indonesian. He apparently went to sea, for he arrived back at Fort Marlborough as a midshipman in the Perseverance in 1806.He remained in the settlement after the ship sailed to China because his family circumstances seemed to afford a better prospect for a live hood at Bencoolen than by continuing his service at sea. His mother,who lived at Bencoolen until 1820.His father, William Lewis was a member of the Bombay Civil Service.He married 1st to Jane Lancaster in Fort Marlborough,Bencoolen,20 July 1819 then 2nd Maria Antonetta Neubronner in 1827.William Thomas Lewis transferred to the Straits Settlements in 1825 and ultimately retired as Resident Councillor of Penang in 1860 after a total of fifty years service with the two governments; assistant in the Accountant's Office 1808-1810, assistant at the Import-Export-Warehouse 1810-1817, superintendant of caffrees and convicts and acting sub-accountant (provisional appointed) 1817-1821, storekeeper 1822-1825.He died 1875 in Penang.Maria Antonetta Neubronner died 1887 in Penang.His issue:- i)Elizabeth Martha Lewis(1821-1839).Died in Penang. ii)Wilhelmina Lewis(1823-1856).Died in Penang. iii)George Lewis(?-1859). iv)Henrietta Elizabeth Lewis(1828-1891)married to Captain George Smart.Their issue - ai)Alexander William Smart(1848-1922). aii)George Henry Robert Smart(1850-?). aiii)Annette Elizabeth Smart(1852-?) aiv)Edward de Sausmarez Smart(1859-?)married to Amy Beatrice Dugdale. av)Helen Alexa Smart(1862-?). iv)Catherine Isabella Lewis(1829-?). v)William Lewis(1830-?). vi)Maria Mary Lewis(1834-1907) married to Robert Crosse. vii)Henry Alfred Lewis(1836-?).
