I am researching the Dunlap family and we have come across a letter in our family that talks about the death of Thomas Breed. I will give you in part what it says... Letter is dated 11 November 1838, in Danville, Illinois "Capt. Thomas Breed, Deac. Breeds son of Antrim, came here in the spring with forty hands from Lowell to build a bridge for the railroad to cross the Vermillion River and I do not think that hardlley one of his escaped sickness. Mr. Breed was taken with the fever about the same time that James Gilmore was and died the 23rd of September. I don't know whether he was making or loosing on the job. Livingston of Lowell was in partnership with him." Hope this helps. Mary | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
