I am searching for a link to my gggrandfather, Lorenzo Dow Staton, b. in KY abt. 1820. Married 9-24-1844 in Scott County, IN. to Jemima McClary, daughter of Samuel J. and Rachel Dunlap McClary. Sarah Staton sold him some land in Scott County. I found her on the census in 1850 and she was in her 70's at that time, so she might have been a grandmother? Several other Staton members show up in Scott County, such as George W. Staton, who seems to be close to Lorenzo's age. Some Staton females marry McClary men, who are brothers to Jemima. Sisters to Lorenzo? Does anyone know about this line? My grandfather used to say his folks came from VA. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
