I am looking for descendants of Frederick Lyon Playfair.He was Resident Councillor of Malacca,Malaysia from(1859-?)/Actg.Lieutenant-Governor of Malacca from(1869-?).He was born Bengal in 1830.Son of Sir Hugh Lyon Playfair and Jane Dalgleish.Educated at St.Andrews University and commissioned into the Madras Artillery He served in the 2nd Burma War and was present at the capture of Rangoon in 1852.After the disbanding of the Madras Artillery in 1861 following the Indian Mutiny he joined the Madras Staff Corps at the same time.He was Aide-de-Camp and Private Secretary to the Governor of the Straits Settlements until 1869, when he was transferred to the Andaman Islands as Deputy Superintendent. In 1872 he became Cantonment Magistrate of Kampti before retiring to Weston-super-Mare in 1878. He married Margaret Farnie from Leith with issue five sons and four daughters. He was full of character and there is a legend that he dosed his family with rhubarb concentrate on the voyage home from India in order to prevent scurvy.
