Thomas Ryan born Alton, Illinois 1859/reared Charleston, Illinois. He had a brother Edward & a sister Ellen. He also had half brothers & sisters: Mary,Cornelius, William, Kate, and James Shannahan. His mother,Julia Mullane Ryan Shannaha was apparently widowed. About 1865, she married Patrick Shannahan. Thomas was a KATY Railroad conductor who lived in Hillsboro, Texas on May 29, 1896, when he was murdered on the job. He was my great uncle. I have had his gun for about fifty years, but didn't know his name until I found an article in a Charleston, Illinois paper last year. The short article said he lived at Hillsboro at the time of his death. I would appreciate any detail you might find about his death. Thank you. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
