His memorial in Brampton cemetery, Ontario, says that Noah William CHANT was born at Stoke-sub-Hamdon (AKA Stoke under Ham) in Somerset 1816. I can find no trace and would request more information from anyone who may have an idea. He died 1899. Noah married Harriet LASKEY in 1849. She was born 1820 in Devon and the IGI has such a lady born at Mortonhampstead in that year. Their son Thomas 1842-1930 Ontario married Emily Anna THORNE 1859-1909 whom I have traced to Stoke. Emily would have been my second cousin twice removed. She was the daughter of Lewis THORNE c1819 and Elizabeth nee PENNY 1821 both of Stoke-sub-Hamdon. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
