I am looking for any information regarding Thomas Jefferson Sutton, son of James Morris Sutton of Washington County. James moved to Mississippi in the early 1800's and supposedly had considerable land holdings in Washington and Claiborne Counties. During the later 1800's much of the Sutton property wound up at the bottom of the Mississippi River during the great floods. Later, a fire at the Washington Co. courthouse destroyed most county records. I do know that Thomas was married to Fleta Avery and had three children, one of them my grandfather. He may have been married one other time before Fleta, but that is unconfirmed. If anyone has any information about Thomas such as his exact birth date and death date and where he went to after the Civil War, please contact me. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
