Hello. I am descended from William Chase (b. 1824 OH) and Elvira Winn (b. 1825 OH). The picture I have posted is of Elvira Winn or her sister Eliza Winn. William and Elvira's daughter Lillian Chase (b. 1858 in Rutland, OH) married Charles William Morris (b. 1860 in Kanawha County, VA) in 1883. Lillian and Charles' daughter, Julia Alice Morris (b. 1889 in Kanawha Co.) married Charles Montgomery Miller. Julia Alice and Charles were my great grandparents. I am confused by all the Winn-Chase marriages that took place in Meigs County, OH in the 1800s. This is the information I have.... My great, great, great grandparents were William Chase and Elvira Winn, married in Meigs County, OH in 1849. Elvira had 2 sisters, Esther (b. 1833 OH) and Nancy, who married William's cousins, John Merrill Chase (b. 1831) and Emeric Chase (brothers, sons of Thomas Jefferson Chase (b. 1806 in ME)). Esther and John were married in OH on October 31, 1852. Elvira, Esther, and Nancy's parents (my gr. gr. gr. gr. grandparents) were Jacob Armstrong Winn and Julia Nobles. Julia's parents were Shubel Nobels and Elizabeth Post. Julia Nobles' brother Charles F. Nobles married Sarah Fanny Winn on October 31, 1818. Julia Nobles' sister Esther Nobles married Abel Chase. I am left with these questions....... Who were Jacob Armstrong Winn's parents and siblings? Who were Sarah Fanny Winn's parents and siblings? Who were Abel Chase's parents and siblings? If anyone can help me untangle the mess I would be very grateful. I have to wonder if these Pioneer families were trying to create a pure bloodline or if there were simply no other families to marry into.... Thanks for reading this....
