HART : SHAKESPEARE | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
Reference to the 2 Hart Brothers, Lt William Hart and Cornet James Hart who arrived in the Cape about the 22 Sept 1795. Their unit was called, 8th Dragoons (Kings Royal Irish Dragoons, later the 8th Kings Royal Irish Hussars. They kept the peace in the Cape Colony for about 5 years. One or both of the brothers would have a had a son, Thomas around 1800 or 1801, which became the line of Harts still alive today. Anyone know where we could find information on these mens history before they came to the Cape. Perhaps who their father was and so forth. As a matter of interest. This is the same unit that led the infamous Charge of the Light Brigade. Also interesting enough, Joan Shakespeare married a William Hart and their descendents are around to this day, whereas William Shakespeare and his other family died out at its infancy.
