Query Text: |
I am looking for any records in Holmes Co., MS for Anthony Durden, who was living with his son, John Durden near Lexington, MS and died there about 1880. He was born in Virginia in 1797, moved to Nashville, TN and married Hulda Hooper, who died, there. He took their slaves and moved to Vicksburg, MS, where his Uncle Newit Vick lived. He married, secondly, Mary Elizabeth Gibson, about 1819. She was the sister of Judge James Gibson and daughter of Nathaniel and Rebecka Gibson. Anthony Durden became a prosperous antebellum planter of Warren Co., MS. His son, John Durden, moved near Lexington, MS. In his later years, Anthony Durden lived in the home of his son, John, and died there. I am looking for a copy of a Will or obituary in a newspaper. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
