I am looking for information on my paternal line. They are mainly in Middlesex, Union, and before 1857 in Essex counties in New Jersey. My G-G-G-Grandfather Jonathan Thorn was born, probably in South Amboy circa 1780-1790. His wife was Elizabeth Furman. They had a son, William Thorn, Sr. born in South Amboy about 1814, who married Ann Seery. Their oldest boy, William Thorn, Jr., born 1835, married Mary Ann Jackson in 1857, in South Amboy. He served in the 28th NJ Infantry, 1862-1863. One of their children was Ernest F. Thorn, born 1864, who married Annie Denman in 1885. My father, Harvey A. Thorn, Sr. was born to them in 1897. The Jackson family came from England in 1848 and settled in South Amboy. My line of the Thorn's moved to Elizabeth, NJ after 1870. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
