Searching for any information about the sibs and parents of James Peter (aka Hamish) McDonald born at Bolfracks, Weem Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, date unknown (1807 or 1808, I think). He married Ann McLean (born 5 January 1812, Logierait Parish, Perthshire to Duncan McLean and Isabella Robertson) on 12 March 1832 and shortly thereafter sailed for Canada. Hamish's parents were John McDonald and Jean Menzies (do not have dates of births, marriage or deaths). The siblings of Hamish are: Grace, Janet, Isabella, John, Allan (who first migrated to New York, U.S.A., before coming to Canada), Catherine and Margaret. I know that John McDonald's parents were Allan McDonald and Grace Kennedy, but have no birth, marriage or death dates for them. Hamish is my ggggrandfather and any information will be greatly appreciated. There are many descendants here in Canada (and a few in the U.S.) who are just as curious as I am about the family's Scottish roots. There may even be a few living relatives in Scotland who could help fill in the gaps. I do know that we are part of the McDonalds of Clanranald as we still have Clan Picnics (which my grandparents Robert James and Ada Frances (nee Morris) McDonald began 50 years ago)in the Ottawa Valley where our McDonald branch settled when they came to Canada. Thank you for your help. Diane LaCavera Oshawa, Ontario, Canada | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
