Re: Verna Mae Barriger Southern Phemister Dear Distant Family Members: My name is Wanda Shultz, and I am currently researching the Barriger/Barringer genealogy. I have accumulated vast amounts of family history. I am seeking help in locating pictures, and information regarding Verna Mae Barriger, Southern, Phemister and additional family of the Barrigers. In addition, I am trying to locate the family of Mary Ann “Annie” Barriger White the first child of Francis 3rd marriage with Catherine Caley Gaylord Barriger born about 1895. How am I related to you? My Grandmother was Clara Francis Barriger. Clara was the daughter of Francis M. Barriger and Catherine Caley Gaylord of Madison, IN. As well as, the youngest sister of Verna Mae. Grandma Clara with Howard Gardner, Lillian “Lillie” Dell, James Rodgers, and Verna Mae “Vernie” were sent to the Soldier and Sailors home in Knightstown, IN after the death of Great Grandmother Catherine in 1913 of Tuberculosis. Great Grandfather Francis “Frank” M. Barriger had died in 1910 of heart issues. Great Uncle Frank was consider of age and did not go to the orphanage. Mary Ann “Annie” had married a Vincent or Vance White about the age of 14, lived in Madison, IN and was 18 at the time of Great Grandmother Catherine’s death. Clara Francis Barriger later was indentured to and then adopted by Warren and Emma Crum, of Ridgeville, IN. Grandma Clara seems to have contact with at least some of her brothers and sisters in her late teens and adult life, as I knew Great Aunt Lil and Great Uncle Frank as a child. The Soldier’s and Sailor’s separated the children either through placement or discharge due to age, or in my case Grandma Clara adoption, giving me little opportunity to get to know my family. Please contact me if you would be willing to help with information. I am looking only for help in the Barriger / Barringer Genealogy. I am one of the lost sheep of the family that had been separated so many years ago after 1913. I sincerely hope you can find it in your heart to help me. I am willing to share the Barriger Genealogy information I have accumulated with all. Thank-you so much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.. Warmest Regards, Wanda Shultz | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
