WRAY MORTON: Looking for information about Thomas Wray who married Mary Moreton in the 1820s or 1830s in Ireland. Thomas was a hotel keeper in County Wicklow where their daughter Elizabeth Wray was born about 1834. They had at least one other daughter, Mary Ann born between 1836 and 1842 in County Fermanagh where Thomas worked as a farmer. Presumbably he died during the Irish Potato Famine as his daughters and possibly his wife were sent to the workhouse in Lisenaskea, Fermanagh. Mary Ann and Elizabeth were sent to Australia in 1849 under the Earl Grey Scheme and worked as servants in Victoria until their marriages. Elizabeth married William Thomas Keene and Mary Ann married a James Kirk. James Wray was a cousin born in Donegal in 1832. He also came to Australia. Virginia Stokes | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
