I am looking for the maiden name of Mrs. Rebecka Gibson, who married Nathaniel Gibson, either in Lexington District, NC. or in the Spanish Natchez District, now Mississippi. Nathaniel Gibson was the son of Jordan Gibson and Mary Middleton Gibson of Lexington District, South Carolina. Nathaniel died about 1800 in MS. His wife, Rebecka Gibson died about 1811. In her Will she leaves the care of her children to her sister Honor Darby, which is possibly her sister's married name. In the Baptist records of Lexington District, NC. there is an Honor Darby and Owen Darby about that time frame. There is no evidence that Owen Darby is the husband of Honor Darby or the father of both Honor Darby and Rebecka (possibly Darby). I need more proof if anyone can help. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
