am looking for the descendents of thomas james & elizabeth (betsy) duke, they married 04-15-1797 davidson co, tn she was 18 & he 55, witness a john ferry, her parents were john duke jr & charlotte green from tn thomas james died 08-1825, he is belived to have been born 1744, his family came from wales, he had a brother daniel james that was a baptis preacher, they settle in culpepper co, va , thomas james was 17 when he left home never to return home again, he was in new orleans about 1762, he got to trading on a indian drink, they called taffa, furs,bear, deer & other game. he got rich doing that, in 1782 they found him a merchant in palmira or grand gulf on the left bank of the mississippi river he immense numbers of stock, horses and cattle, a mill, a store full of goods,by 1787 he was back in nashville tn, bought the old homestead on cumberland river, he was very popular with the indians, especially with the choctaws & chickasaws, elizabeth died on the 06-29-1849, , known childern are #1 elizabeth,spouse james finnie, spouse #2 ? yarbrough, spouse #3 charles davis #2 samuel james , died tn, #3 ben james, #4 CHARLOTTE JAMES, SPOUSE ABNER DAVIS, #5 MARTHA FIELD (PATSY) JAMES. SPOUSE HIREM WELLS, SPOUSE #2 THOMAS C SIMPKINS, #6 MARY TENNESSEE JAMES , #7 JULIAN G JAMES , SPOUSE JOHN MCCLAREN, #8 JOSEPH W.
