Looking for information on the purchase of 8000ac of land on Belle Isle, St Mary Parish, LA circa 1825-1829 by Major General James Smiley, Irish expatriate to America who purchased the land while living in Nelson COunty Kentucky. He died in 1829 possibly without never actually moving there. Is there a record of this land transfer, or equity suits for its settlement after 1829? Thx
