GARVIN-KIRK-Tisdale --I'm looking for the family of Solomon V.GARVIN b.26 Mar 1843 who is in the 1880 census of Hardeman County listed in Civil District 15 at Bolivar with the first four of their ten children. He married Melicie E. KIRK (b. 02 Jul 1853) on 15 May1871 and they had the following children: Sarrah "Winnie" b. 03 Apr 1872, John L. b. 21 Dec 1873, James J. b. 28 Apr 1876, Virgil K. b.13 Feb 1878, Luthur L. b. 25 Mar 1881, Cecil S. b. 19 Jan 1885, Ethel A.(married name Warren) b. 03 Feb 1887, Minnie Theo b. 15 Feb 1889 (my grandmother: married William Goodrum Forsyth of McNairy County),William H. b. 07 Mar 1891, Sarrah A. b. 02 May 1893. Census indicates Solomon GARVIN was born in SC and Melicie was born in TN but I have not been able to find. Also looking for Melicie E. Kirk's parents J.M. KIRK and Sarah TISDALE. J.M. Kirk was a grocer who lived at Pocahontas. 1860 Census of Hardeman County taken August 14, 1860 shows him age 41 with Sarah E. Tisdale, his wife age 29 with these children: Giles D. age 14, Almeda A age 13, John A. age 10, Malissa age 8 (my great grandmother), Ellen P. age 6, and Molly B. age 3. Census indicates that John A, Malissa, and Ellen were born in MS, while all others including J.M. and Sarah were born in Tennessee. Any help appreciated. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
